CALL FOR ENTRIES OPEN NOW FOR WEBSERIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SECOND EDITION OF L’ALFAS DEL PI INTERNATIONAL WEBSERIES FESTIVAL “FIDEWÀ” WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE BETWEEN THE 11TH AND 15TH OF MAY 2016

Contest entry is for those who have premiered webseries episodes from January 2014 onwards and have a minimum of 3 episodes aired at the time of submission.

The webseries may be of any duration, theme, genre, real image or animation, national or international.

The projects will have to be subtitled in Spanish or Valencian, whenever the original language is not one of this two co-official languages.

1.- WHAT IS FIDEWÀ:

L’Alfas del Pi International Webseries Festival or FIDEWÀ, aims to hold an international event dedicated to web fiction, with awards, workshops, screenings and round tables that will help reflect on this new form of audiovisual production. Likewise, it aims to support and promote Spanish and international webseries seeking to contribute to generating opportunities for this growing sector.

 

2.- DATE AND LOCATION:

The second edition of FIDEWÀ will be held from 11 to 15 May 2016 in the Casa de Cultura of L’Alfas del Pi.

 

3.- PARTICIPANTS REQUIREMENTS:

To participate in FIDEWÀ:

  • Participants shall be natural persons over the age of 18 years or legal persons who are legally constituted and hold the rights of the webseries to be submitted: distributors, producers, film, schools…
  • Those involved in the organization of FIDEWÀ or any other person who has a connection with the organization of the Festival are not allowed to participate.

Submissions will be conducted by the director, the producer or by the legal representatives of the webseries distribution.

 

4.-WEBSERIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Entry is for those who have premiered webseries episodes from January 2014.

 

  • Language: webseries that are in a foreign language shall be subtitled in Spanish and/or Valencian.

 

  • Format: They must be available on platforms such as Youtube or Vimeo videos, we only ask you to provide the links. If webseries pass the pre-screening process you’ll have to render them in Full HD quality in Mov or Avi formats.

 

  • Theme: webseries of advertising, pornographic, racist or violent character or those in which animals have been injured, abused or violated will not be admitted. We shall not accept any webseries that violates any right of a third party. The legal or natural person that submits webseries in the FIDEWÀ website will be legally responsible of their content.

 

  • Number of episodes aired: at least three episodes must have been aired by 10 April 2016 (*Note: the three episodes must be public on the official channel of each webseries).

 

  • Webseries must be original, being the natural or legal persons that submit them solely liable before any holder of any webseries rights. The natural or legal person who has submitted the webseries and who is being claimed intellectual property rights legitimately reclaimed by third parties shall also be the sole and exclusive responsible for the claims.

5.- SUBMISSION:

Submission is completely FREE.

Only those who have premiered webseries from January 2014 and have aired 3 or more episodes may take part. The episodes may be of any duration, theme, and genre, of real image or animation. Submission is open for national and international webseries. All webseries produced out of Spain will be eligible to compete only for the BEST WEBSERIES AWARD.

In the event of being shortlisted, the webseries will have to provide the organization with three episodes in the format that is specified by FIDEWA for the publication in their channels. Only in those cases in which the language is not Spanish the episodes must be subtitled in Spanish or Valencian.

The webseries shortlisted as nominees for the final phase must provide the organization with at least one season for its screening at the festival. In the event of not having a full season, they will provide the episodes they have so far.

Deadline for submissions is 10 April 2016, through the festival website (www.fidewa.com), just by clicking on the submission tab.

Authors or representatives of finalists must be present at the awards ceremony which will take place Saturday, 14 May 2016.

The organization reserves the right to declare any category or award void.

The organization reserves the right to alter and/or modify any consideration which may directly affect the programming and the celebration of this audiovisual event.

 

6.- JUDGES:

The members of the jury will be specialists within the audiovisual, fiction and new formats area. The members of the jury will be announced via L’Alfas del Pi International Webseries Festival website (www.fidewa.com). The judges’ decision is final.

 

7.- CATEGORIES AND AWARDS:

The festival will feature an official and a non-official category.

 

OFFICIAL CATEGORY:

This will feature cash awards and will be presented during the awards gala. The jury of the festival will determine the winners. The organization guarantees a basic share of awards, these can be changed but always on an incremental basis:

  • 1ST. PRIZE – BEST WEBSERIES: €1,000 plus official award with festival logo.
  • 2ND. PRIZE – BEST WEBSERIES: €500 plus award plaque.
  • 3RD. PRIZE – BEST WEBSERIES: €250 plus award plaque.
  • BEST INTERNATIONAL WEBSERIE: €600 plus award plaque.
  • BEST REGIONAL WEBSERIE: €500 plus award.
  • BEST WEBSERIES AUDIENCE AWARD: €500 plus official award.
  • BEST ACTRESS: award plaque.
  • BEST ACTOR: award plaque.
  • BEST SCRIPT: award plaque.
  • BEST DIRECTION: award plaque.

The awards will be subject to tax retention pursuant to the Law. For prize payment purposes, all documents required by the festival organization shall be in your possession by 15 May, 2016. The festival organization shall not be held responsible if you fail to comply with this premise.

 

NON-OFFICIAL CATEGORY:

This initiative seeks the recognition of the work and the effort of personalities in the audio-visual environment. The organization will select the winner. No prior registration is required.

  • Award of merit for best online content.
  • Special award of merit for best social media campaign.

 

8.- BEST WEBSERIES AUDIENCE AWARD:

The public will be responsible for granting an award to this category. The popular voting will be carried out by means of a questionnaire to be completed by the attendees. A ballot box will be provided for this purpose. Votes will be casted either before or after the screening (within a 30 minutes range) during the days of the festival. Admission to the screening and voting will be free. The winning webseries will receive €500 prize cash and the official ladle with the festival logo. The public award and the jury award are cumulative.

 

9.- BEST REGIONAL WEBSERIES AWARD:

One or more of the following requirements shall be met in order to be considered for this category:

  • To qualify for BEST REGIONAL WEBSERIES, webseries must have been produced and recorded entirely in the Valencian Community.
  • The producer or distributor must have its fiscal and/or registered office in the Valencian Community.

Webseries produced in the Valencian Community will also be eligible for the Best Webseries Award and the Audience Award. However, regardless of the above-mentioned requirements, the jury will be responsible for granting the Best Valencian Community Webseries Award according to their discretion.

 

10.- PHASES:

FIDEWÀ will consist of two phases:

Phase 1: webseries will be shortlisted in this phase. There will be a maximum of 10 nominees per category. This will be communicated through FIDEWÀ channels and it will be announced on 22 April, 2016. Shortlisted webseries will go on to the next phase. The organization and screening committee will be in charge of shortlisting the candidates and checking that all webseries participating in FIDEWÀ meet all the rules and requirements published in the festival website.

Phase 2: this will determine the webseries that will finally participate in the official category and that, consequently, will opt for the awards. Each category will be composed by a maximum of 5 finalists. Those aspiring to participate in the official FIDEWA category will be announced on 30 April, 2016.

The jury will be appointed by the Board of Directors of the Festival. This jury will be chosen by a panel of renowned professionals within the audio-visual and narrative environment.

The winners of the official category will be announced during the closing ceremony of the festival.

11.- EXHIBITION RIGHTS:

Webseries participating in this festival are presumed to be the legal holders of all exhibition and promotion rights of the material they represent. The festival will not be held liable for any claims arising out of copyright breaches by the webseries. On having submitted the webseries in FIDEWÀ, authors accept that their webseries be included in FIDEWÀ channels, as well as the screening of the webseries during the festival, and in any other formats of promotion by the festival, such as DVDs, always with non-commercial or non-profit purposes.

 

12.- COMMUNICATION:

The festival reserves the right to take a sample of the webseries selected for use in the official trailer, and furthermore, to use the materials (photos, frames, poster, etc.) for promotion purposes (printed program, poster, press, internet, social networking, etc.)

 

13.- ACCEPTANCE OF THE CONDITIONS:

Submission to FIDEWA constitutes acceptance of these legal bases.
